Packing Like A Pro: How To Be Efficient in Your Move

Essential tips and tricks from your trusted moving partner. Make your move as seamless as possible with Yarnall!

Start Early

Packing is a marathon, not a sprint. Begin well in advance to avoid last-minute stress. Dedicate a room or area for packing and create a timeline to stay organized.

Gather Supplies

Stock up on quality packing materials such as sturdy boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, and marker pens. Having the right tools is half the battle.

 Declutter First

Take this opportunity to declutter your home. Donate or sell items you no longer need, and discard those that are beyond repair. Packing and moving will be more efficient with less stuff to manage.

Pack Room by Room

Focus on one room at a time. Clearly label each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. This will make unpacking a breeze

Fragile Items

Use plenty of padding for delicate items. Wrap breakables in bubble wrap or packing paper and place them in boxes with extra cushioning. Don’t forget to mark these boxes as “Fragile.”

Heavy Items

Pack heavy items in smaller boxes to prevent overloading. This makes them easier to carry and reduces the risk of the boxes breaking.

Essentials Box

Pack a box of essentials for your first day in your new home. Include toiletries, a change of clothes, important documents, and any items you’ll need immediately.

Electronics

Take pictures of cable setups before disconnecting electronics. Pack these items in their original boxes if available. Label cords for easy reassembly.

Furniture Disassembly

Disassemble furniture, if necessary, and keep all hardware in labeled bags. Store them together with the furniture for easy reassembly.

Consider Professional Help

If you’re overwhelmed, consider hiring professional packers to ensure your items are packed securely and efficiently.
