Moving is often cited as one of the most stressful of life’s events. Whether you’re getting professional help or doing your next move by yourself, here is a list of apps that can help take some of that stress out, so you don’t bring it to your next place!

Updater is a mobile app designed for the services of relocating. It helps simplify the process of moving to a new home by helping you organize and complete your move-related tasks in minutes. Updater lets users connect TV and internet, forward mail, and transfer utilities all in one place.

LetGo is designed for buying and selling things locally. Users can buy and sell anything from phone cases to big furniture, which comes in handy when you’re trying to figure out how to get rid of your used stuff. Keep in mind that LetGo connects buyers and sellers, but the payment arrangements are handled outside of the app.

While not as popular as LetGo, OfferUp is a viable alternative that some find even easier to use. In certain geographic areas, buyers can make purchases from within the app. Whether it’s through this app, LetGo, Facebook Marketplace, or elsewhere, it’s good to start selling your items early so you can pocket some cash, spend less time packing, and save on the cost of your mover.

Forget the tape measure! All you’ll need when you visit your new home is your phone. MagicPlan is an app that uses your phone’s camera to help you map out all your furniture in your new home. The app creates a floor plan that you can interact with, so you can add and move furniture without the hassle of doing it. With MagicPlan, you’ll never again have to wonder if your bed will fit in your new room.

TaskRabbit can help you get your place in tip-top shape in no time. It was designed to help people by being the easiest, most convenient way to book home services. TaskRabbit connects you with reliable, safe, top-rated professionals who can assist you with house cleaning, installation, and handyman services. By the way, IKEA, the Swedish home furnishings giant, acquired TaskRabbit in 2017, so they can build that knock-down furniture for you

Like TaskRabbit, Handy can be a lifesaver when it comes to moving before, during, and after your move. For certain projects, two additional apps come to mind: Home Advisor and Angie’s List.

Nextdoor is a private social network for your neighborhood. The app lets you connect to people or services in your area. Meet the people across the street, find out which park has the best jogging trail, or find a local babysitter. If you’re new to a neighborhood, the Nextdoor app is the perfect place for you to see what’s going on in your area.
